Flex Mobile™ for Unitech® HT330

Flex Mobile™ is our latest meter reader application that runs on the Unitech® HT330 handheld computer. It replaces our previous Route Management application that ran on the now obsolete Unitech® HT630 handheld computer.

While the industry continues to transition to Automated Meter Reading Systems, RVS understands there are many water systems that must still perform manual meter reads. Therefore, we have designed Flex Mobile™ to be a modern, easy to use and reliable tool in that endeavor. We have built in many features that limit reading errors, provide a more flexible configuration and simplify the reading tasks.

Software Features

Our Flex Mobile™ application for the HT330 includes all the features of our previous Route Management application plus it adds many other new features and enhancements to previous features (Marked *):

  • Fast Data Transfer* – Typically the route and reading data transfers to/from the handheld over USB within 10 seconds.
  • GPS Navigation* – The application utilizes the built in GPS functionality of the HT330 to guide the meter reader to the meter when GPS coordinates are included in the account. Additionally, meter location GPS coordinates are captured during a meter read and can be imported back into the customer account in Mosaics and the Service Locations module (if installed)
  • Accounts/Meters Search* – Records can be searched by name, account number, service address, meter ID, first unread, next unread, first skipped, next skipped, or nearest to current GPS location.
  • Flexible Reading Status – Each meter can be Read, Skipped, or Estimated.
  • Low Use, High Use and Rollover Warnings - The reader will be visually and audibly warned of low usage, high usage and rollover readings. Low and High usage thresholds are adjustable.
  • Verify Meter* – If enabled, the application can require the reader enter the correct meter ID before entering a reading. Alternately, the application can print bar codes labels that may be affixed to the meters. Those labels can then be scanned by the HT330’s built in bar code scanner to verify the meter to be read.
  • 12 Month Previous Readings* – Previous 12 months of readings and usage on a bar graph.
  • Text to Speech* – Many optional audible voice prompts are built into the application. For example, the application can “Say” the account address, the meter ID and any office notes as the reader navigates through the route.
  • Speech to Text* – The reader may enter a reader note using the onscreen keyboard or by speaking it into the handheld.
  • Reader Privileges* – Allows office admin to select which sensitive handheld features are available to the meter reader.
  • Camera and Images* – If the optional Mosaics Service Locations module is installed, allows the meter reader to capture and notate images related to a meter location. Those images are then transferred, stored and are viewable through the Mosaics Service Locations module.
  • Application Performance* – Flex Mobile™ was designed to take advantage of the powerful performance of the HT330 providing a very responsive users experience.

Hardware Features

The Unitech® HT330 is a modern Android based handheld computer that was designed to operate in field conditions and includes many new features not available on the obsolete Unitech HT630. Below is a list of HT330 features that are relevant to our Flex Mobile™ application.
